How to renew a Florida real estate license
The first Florida real estate license renewal uses post-license education (at least 45 classroom hours for sales associates, 60 hours for brokers), and later renewals use 14 hours of continuing education instead. Every renewal cycle is two years and is due by midnight Eastern Standard Time on March 31 or September 30 for your license group.

Direct answer
The first Florida real estate license renewal uses post-license education (at least 45 classroom hours for sales associates, 60 hours for brokers), and later renewals use 14 hours of continuing education instead. Every renewal cycle is two years and is due by midnight Eastern Standard Time on March 31 or September 30 for your license group.
First renewal is a different course
Before the first renewal after you are initially licensed, sales associates complete a Commission-prescribed post-licensing course of at least 45 classroom hours (source: https://www2.myfloridalicense.com/real-estate-commission/education/, opened 2026-10-14). Brokers complete a separate 60-hour broker post-license requirement on that first cycle (same education page). This is not the 14-hour continuing education mix. See /learn/florida-real-estate/florida-45-hour-post-license for the sales associate first-renewal course.
Later renewals use 14-hour CE
After the first renewal cycle is satisfied, active and inactive Florida real estate licensees complete 14 hours of FREC-approved continuing education each two-year period: 3 hours Core Law, 3 hours Business Ethics, and 8 hours specialty (sources: https://www2.myfloridalicense.com/real-estate-commission/ and https://www2.myfloridalicense.com/real-estate-commission/education/, opened 2026-10-14). See /learn/florida-real-estate/florida-14-hour-continuing-education for the CE mix. Do not treat CE as the first-renewal course.
Two-year cycle: March 31 or September 30
Education hours and the DBPR renewal fee are due no later than midnight Eastern Standard Time on your license expiration date, which is March 31 or September 30 (source: https://www2.myfloridalicense.com/real-estate-commission/, opened 2026-10-14). If that date falls on a holiday or weekend, DBPR extends the renewal period to the next business day midnight Eastern Standard Time. Confirm your exact expiration date, license status, and cart total in MyFloridaLicense before you pay.
DBPR renewal and late fees (FAC 61J2-1.011)
Florida Administrative Code Rule 61J2-1.011 lists the biennial renewal fees for licensure: Sales Associate $64.00 and Broker $72.00 (source: https://www.flrules.org/gateway/ruleno.asp?id=61J2-1.011, rule text opened 2026-10-14 via the linked DOC). The same rule lists a late fee of $25.00. DBPR September 2026 Group 1 renewal instructions also state a $25 late fee if you renew after midnight Eastern Standard Time on September 30, 2026 (source: https://www2.myfloridalicense.com/re/documents/renew/2026/SL%20AC%20Grp%201.pdf, opened 2026-10-14). Live checkout on MyFloridaLicense is authoritative if the cart differs from the rule table. Do not invent extra late fees beyond those published amounts.
How to renew online
Finish the required education for your cycle, keep completion records, then renew through MyFloridaLicense (source: https://www.myfloridalicense.com/, opened 2026-10-14). Start from the FREC commission home for current renewal notices and group PDFs (source: https://www2.myfloridalicense.com/real-estate-commission/, opened 2026-10-14). Your broker affiliation and active vs inactive status can change what you may do after renewal, but the education clock and fee due date still follow your expiration date. See /learn/florida-real-estate/florida-real-estate-license-inactive-vs-active if you need status detail.
Casa does not invent a renewal sticker price
The $199 public pre-license tuition checked on 2026-10-14 (sources: https://casaacademy.com/enroll/florida-63-hour-pre-licensing-course and https://casaacademy.com/enroll/spanish) is sales associate pre-license only. It does not include post-license or continuing education. Casa offers separate enroll paths for post-licensing and CE; check those live pages for current checkout prices and do not treat any old CE or post-license sticker as a fact on this page. Any DBPR-approved provider can satisfy post-license or CE. This page stays useful if you never buy Casa.
School final vs the Florida state exam
Renewal education has its own school completion rules and certificates for DBPR reporting. Florida schools commonly use a 70% pass bar on a school final for pre-license coursework. The Florida state exam is given by Pearson VUE: 100 scored questions, about 3.5 hours, 75 correct to pass. Do not mix a school final, CE or post-license completion, and the state exam. You already passed the state exam before you reached renewal cycles.

Casa does not sell those state or association fees inside the $199 checkout. You can finish renewal education with any DBPR-approved provider. This page stays useful if you never buy Casa.

- Every two years, by midnight Eastern Standard Time on your license expiration date, which is March 31 or September 30 (source: https://www2.myfloridalicense.com/real-estate-commission/, opened 2026-10-14). Confirm your date in MyFloridaLicense.
- How much is the Florida real estate license renewal fee?
- FAC Rule 61J2-1.011 lists biennial renewal fees of $64.00 for sales associates and $72.00 for brokers, plus a $25.00 late fee (source: https://www.flrules.org/gateway/ruleno.asp?id=61J2-1.011, opened 2026-10-14). Confirm the live MyFloridaLicense cart before you pay.
