North Dakota Real Estate Practice Exam

The salesperson exam has a national portion with 100 scored multiple-choice items and a North Dakota state-law portion with 40 scored items. PSI allots 150 minutes for the national section and 90 minutes for the state section, for 240 minutes total when both are taken together. You need at least 70 correct answers on the national portion and at least 30 correct answers on the state portion to pass each section independently. PSI may also include five to ten unscored experimental questions mixed into the session. Those items look like scored questions but do not affect your result, and the time spent on them still counts against your limit. Your pass or fail status displays on screen immediately after the exam, and PSI prints a score report at the test center.

The national portion follows PSI's standard real estate principles outline. The state portion follows the NDREC Real Estate License Law and Rules and Regulations booklet. North Dakota salesperson candidates must satisfy NDREC education, application, and examination rules before an active license is issued. Review the current NDREC and PSI pages before applying because fees and forms can change.

• Be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
• Resident applicants must complete 90 hours of NDREC-certified salesperson pre-licensing education and apply for licensure within two years of finishing the course.
• Submit the online application at NDREC Online Services with the $161.25 fee ($150 application plus $11.25 credit history check), upload required documents, and complete fingerprinting ($40 analysis fee to the ND Office of Attorney General plus local fingerprinting costs).
• Schedule and pay the PSI examination fee ($134 per attempt at the time of this review) through the PSI North Dakota portal. Residents must pass both the national and state portions.
• After passing both exam sections, upload score reports to NDREC Online Services, pay the $20 one-time Recovery Fund contribution, associate with a broker for an active license, and maintain errors-and-omissions insurance.
